This one is tricky. At times it got on my nerves, but all in all it was pretty thrilling. I thought I knew what was going to happen from the summary, but I was taken by surprise and in the end I couldn't put it down.

What I didn't like was the storyline dragged and had elements that just didn't need to be included. Like in the beginning with his wife, I can see that. At the end she shows up, but I have no idea why. It's never addressed again. And all the people, conversations and work on the boat. Yes, very important to the character but it took years of this guys life to get to the story.

Then once it really got going, I didn't care for all the rape talk. Yes I get it, it happened. Didn't need nearly as much detail as the guy gave. And the perverts, are guys seriously like this? Because I want to go to an island of women if they are!

But once it gets into the main plot of the story it starts moving seriously fast and is full of energy. It really touched a nerve how alone they really are out on the open waters. When you have an emergency it's not like an ambulance can haul-ass over to you.

Oh and there was a dog...a cute dog. But this is not a cute tale. It's full of rough language, rough men, abused women, and plenty of murder.

I love it when I get a gripping suspense novel, AND it's well written. Granted I wasn't always surprised by the actions of the characters, but I also had plenty of time to be shocked. Ever read a book and get hit so hard you take a sharp intake of breath? Yeah, that happened here a few times.

What really got me was when he told the story from Adam's point of view. See, Adam was the gambling husband who was getting progressively more violent. He was such a sad case. He knew he was screwing up, he was aware of his bad decisions. Yet he still lost control.

It was freaky how easy it was to go down that slope. Klein really makes the point that not only do you not know what the people around you are capable of, you don't even know what YOU are capable of.

This was a great ride, and I'm a little sorry it's over. I'm looking forward to reading more by David Klein.

OMG, what can I say about this book? It started off with a bang and kept me hanging on every word until the end. The main character, Detective Ethan Parker, is what you would expect for a strong male lead. He had a dark secret in his past and so does the leading lady in the book, Abby Montgomery. Little do either of them know, they share the same dark secret and that there is another dark secret out there that will do anything to destroy them both!

The is an action packed thriller that will keep you guessing and reading! The writing was done very well and the authors gave just the right amount of details. I could see the story unfolding in my mind and was eager to keep reading to find out what was going on.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes thrillers with a little bit of romance/erotica mixed in.
