Book Reviews - Millenium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson

There are three books in the Millenium Trilogy written by the late Stieg Larsson. They are "The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo", "The Girl Who Played with Fire", and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest".

We meet Lisbeth Salander in the first book, and she is different. But she doesn't stand for crap from anyone and you can't help love her. The other main character is Mikael Blomkvist, who is a great journalist with wonderful ethics, but not a lot of control over his penis. Oh he makes it all ok in his mind, but he does leave heartaches behind. In the first book they work together, her doing research on a large job he has accepted far from home.

In the next book, coming back a year later, Lisbeth has found her father. And while she is wanted for murder, she only wants to end the life-long battle with her father. We discovere what is responsible with the sweedish goverment pushing so hard to keep her under guardianship. She does have a final battle with her father...read to find out what happens.

And finaly in the last book it picks up where the 2nd book leaves off. Lisbeth must heal, and a trial is looming that will likely end with her being commited for life if Mikael Blomkvist and his staff don't work hard to uncover the true story. He finds himself working with the police to try to find the whole story.

I picked up "The Girl Who Played with Fire" awhile ago from my library and I had a hard time getting into it. Starting from the first book made it all go much better. I was gripped until about halfway through the last book. I don't think the story lost momentum so much as I did. It really is a great series. So go to amazon to pick them up if you are interested. Or go to your local library. Personally I bought the first 2 books at Sam's Club for $5 each and the last one from my library.

  1. Thanks for this review. I have the first two books and am anxiously awaiting the 3rd to be released in mass market paperback.

I think I'll start with the first one and give it a whirl!
