Bringing up Salamanders: Litha Giveaway!

Nydia of Bringing up Salamanders is giving away one of her god dolls. She makes a wide array of god and goddesses and they are all wonderful. She doesn't know this, but I am thinking about slowly buying up a full greek set. I am also dying to buy a set of runes that she also handcrafts with felt and scented herbs.

On top of being crafty, she is a wonderful mom. I like reading her blog because she is the kind of mom I can only dream of being. She is so close to her little witch, she gives him room to explore, a safe place to feel and involvement in the community and family around them. Nydia is also close to her family, living with her mom who she has been helping since her surgery.

She writes a great blog, creates gorgeous crafts and is genrally a good person. So, go check it out for the giveaway, but stay for the posts.

Peace be with you all this weekend!

Bringing up Salamanders: Life is Good meme

Bringing up Salamanders: Life is Good meme:

1. Your favorite book?
This is really hard, I have many books that I love but to pick one favorite is impossible. My earliest love and one I can still enjoy reading is actually a 3 part series my Madame L'Engle. A Wrinkle In Time, A Wind in the Door and a Swiftly Tilting Planet. The heroine is a smart, mousy girl with untapped potential. I love it! They are the only books my L'Engle I've read, but I just saw she has a ton of books out there. May have to do some exploring now.

2. Your favorite food?
Right now my favorite thing to eat is a BLT made with thick pepper bacon, iceburg lettuce and little tomatoes on a toasted baguette with Hellman's light mayo. It is full of flavor, and I only use 2 slices of bacon on it, so the bacon lasts and my weight doesn't baloon up from eating it.

3. Favorite song/band?
Behind blue eyes from the Who. It spoke to me when I was a teenager. And I still enjoy it, only as I change so does my appreciation.

4. Favorite clothes to sleep in?
loose top and boxers

5. Favorite first thing to do in the morning?
If I get up before the kids, I love to go soak in a private bubble bath. If I don't get up before the kids then usually the first thing I do is get Ivan a banana.

6. Favorite thing to do before sleeping?
Read my book or have great sex with my hubby. It makes me sleepy. lol

7. Favorite herb?
Good question, I guess it's Sage. I love using it when I roast chicken, gives it an earthy flavor.

8. Favorite Moon phase?
full moon - this summer we are planning to pack up the kids and do a moonlit walk in the woods. I love the silvery sheen it casts over everything, especially if it is really bright and makes it look like twilight.

9. Favorite piece of jewerly?
I would have to go with a necklace my 1st husband gave me when we were dating. It's the only time someone gave me jewelry out of love. And it was the last time I received a suprise piece of jewelry. It's a gold chain with a black hills gold heart pendant.

10. Favorite quote?
I hear lots of quotes I like, but I never remember them for long. I have a horrible memory. So anyone reading this, post your favorite quote so I have something to choose from. :)

Thanks for reading today! and thanks to Nydia at Bringing Up Salamanders for the award and the questions.

Monday Melee--Fracas

The Malcontent: name something you are unhappy with. **I am unhappy with my house and economic status. I am sick of never having enough money, of having to feel the great stress every month. Last month Chris got a ticket that ended up costing $220 and added 4 points to his license. And I was so frustrated I cried for 2 days. I still don't think he was at fault, he slowed down to 25 MPH to pass an officer at a traffic stop, and the officer pulled him, ticketed him for not driving down the left turn lane. We were actually ahead of the game at that point for the first time in 4 years!!! And in one moment it was all gone. I don't even know what the points are going to translate to. So that's what I hate, never having enough money.**

The Meritorious: give someone credit for something and name it if you can. **The teachers of CW's head start classroom for making me the BEST gift I have ever received. For Mother's Day they had the kids make a calendar from May to December. Each month has a picture. The first one is CW with his arms outstretched and says "I love you this much...", then there's a picture and what he says the picture is. It was about the aliens that we talked about when we were out driving and saw a blocked off road. I said that maybe there were aliens back there and CW took off on an alien discussion. Then on another one there's some drawing and his writing "I Love You." which he says they helped him write. Another page says "I love my mom because she makes me chicken noodle soup." And finally a survey where he answered questions about his mom. He got my name right...I'm 10 years old, I love pink (not!), I don't have any brothers or sisters (I have 2 brothers but really only 1 he knows about), and the food I make best is "watermelon." Thank you to my son and his teachers.**

The Mirror: see something good about yourself and name it. **This is a hard one, especially when I'm feeling funky. I have pretty blue eyes. Honestly they are my best feature. Unfortunately they are hidden behind thick glasses.**

The Make-Believe: name something you wish for. **I wish my husband would get a good paying job with benefits in this area, but away from his current bosses. They are consistently mean to people and childish, and I just want distance from them. Also Chris has no future there. The raises will only go so far, and I'm sure he has reached the limit of that. There are no benefits and there never will be. There's no room for advancement, probably no more raises and never any benefits...I want more for Chris because he is worth so much more.**

From: http://fracas.wordpress.com and http://unapologeticallyanna.blogspot.com. For some reason Fracas isn't working right now - which is a bummer as she has a very funny blog. The next one belongs to Anna and she's writing about herself, thoughts, feelings and ideas with no censoring. Go ANNA!!!
