Explosive Eighteen

by: Janet Evanovich

Available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Synopsis:
Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum’s life is set to blow sky high when international murder hits dangerously close to home, in this dynamite novel by Janet Evanovich.

Before Stephanie can even step foot off Flight 127 Hawaii to Newark, she’s knee deep in trouble. Her dream vacation turned into a nightmare, and she’s flying back to New Jersey solo. Worse still, her seatmate never returned to the plane after the L.A. layover. Now he’s dead, in a garbage can, waiting for curbside pickup. His killer could be anyone. And a ragtag collection of thugs and psychos, not to mention the FBI, are all looking for a photograph the dead man was supposed to be carrying.

Only one other person has seen the missing photo—Stephanie Plum. Now she’s the target, and she doesn’t intend to end up in a garbage can. With the help of an FBI sketch artist Stephanie re-creates the person in the photo. Unfortunately the first sketch turns out to look like Tom Cruise, and the second sketch like Ashton Kutcher. Until Stephanie can improve her descriptive skills, she’ll need to watch her back.

Over at the bail bonds agency things are going from bad to worse. The bonds bus serving as Vinnie’s temporary HQ goes up in smoke. Stephanie’s wheelman, Lula, falls in love with their largest skip yet. Lifetime arch nemesis Joyce Barnhardt moves into Stephanie’s apartment. And everyone wants to know what happened in Hawaii?

Morelli, Trenton’s hottest cop, isn’t talking about Hawaii. Ranger, the man of mystery, isn’t talking about Hawaii. And all Stephanie is willing to say about her Hawaiian vacation is . . . It’s complicated.

I can't believe there are 18 of these books! I adore them all. Stephanie Plum and her crazy crew of friends and family make each and every story a hilarious ride, and this one is no different.

Stephanie still bumbles at her job, can't decide between Ranger and Morelli, and has more than a few family dinners. Lulu is as strong willed as ever. My favorite part was when she pulled a rocket launcher out of her trunk, apparently she bought it at a garage sale in the projects. Ok, is Jersey really this colorful? I can't imagine why anyone would have anything against such a place.

The big case in this story is a picture someone put in her bag during her flight home from Hawaii. She didn't know what it was and threw it away. Then the FBI, some fake FBI, a totally crazy man named Razzle Dazzle and a hair dresser all show up wanting the picture. Well it's in a landfill for all Stephanie knows. So she deals the best way she can, with all her spunk and help from her love interests.

I loved it, and I can't wait for the next one. I thought Janet was getting ready to wrap this up, because Stephanie was really getting fed up with being incompetent at her job. Not sure if she'd quit or finally take some action to get trained, though. Course if she keeps sleeping with these guys, something else might end her career entirely!

  1. I am excited about EE, I haven't read it yet. I'm waiting to read it, right before the Movie. I can't wait to see Stephanie and Lula in action ;-)
